Yorkshire has been identified as having the lowest ratio of bank branches to residents in the UK, according to a report by the consumer group Which?. The study highlights a significant decline in banking facilities, with 6,161 branches closing since 2015, leaving some areas completely devoid of any banking services. Currently, the Yorkshire and the Humber region is served by just 248 bank branches for a population of 5.6 million, resulting in a ratio of only 4.4 branches per 100,000 people. This means that each resident in Yorkshire effectively shares their local branch with approximately 22,557 others, underscoring the challenges faced by residents in accessing banking services.
