Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa has issued an apology after facing accusations of racism due to a photograph in which she appeared to pull her eyes back with chopsticks while in China for a series of tournaments. The controversy arose following her defeat in the semi-finals of the China Open, when her coach, Pol Toledo, shared the photo on his Instagram account, tagging the official China Open account. The post quickly attracted a wave of comments accusing Badosa of racist behavior. In response to the backlash, Badosa expressed her regret, stating, "I didn’t know this was offensive. I take responsibility."
