Former human rights lawyer Phil Shiner has admitted to committing fraud in connection with claims made against veterans of the Iraq war. The 67-year-old appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Monday, where he pleaded guilty to three counts of fraud, as reported by the National Crime Agency (NCA). Shiner sought up to £200,000 in legal aid funding to represent clients, including Khuder Al-Sweady. He is scheduled to be sentenced on December 2.
