Liam Rosenior: ‘Coaching abroad, nobody has any preconceived idea of who you are’ Liam Rosenior has made a significant impact since taking the helm at Strasbourg, where the team is now focused on challenging PSG’s unbeaten streak. Reflecting on his experience, Rosenior states, “What I’ve learned in three months here, I probably wouldn’t have learned in England over five years.” After parting ways with Hull City, the former defender became just the second Englishman to manage in France since the 1950s when he took over from Patrick Vieira at Strasbourg last summer. In this unique role, Rosenior has embraced an unconventional path at a club recently acquired by BlueCo, the consortium that purchased Chelsea from Roman Abramovich. “It wasn’t really on my mind that I was an Englishman going abroad; it was just a really exciting project,” he explains. Currently, his assistant coach and former Reading teammate, Kalifa Cissé, acts as a translator during press conferences, while Rosenior is committed to improving his French through weekly intensive lessons.
