Social media influencer Matthew Choi has been banned from the New York City Marathon after he participated in the race accompanied by a camera crew on e-bikes. Choi shared several videos of his marathon experience on his social media platforms, which sparked significant backlash. In response to the criticism, he issued an apology, admitting that his filming activities posed risks to other runners, hindered some from achieving personal bests, and obstructed access to water stations. Choi completed the marathon with a time of 2 hours, 57 minutes, and 15 seconds, finishing approximately 50 minutes behind the men's race winner, Abdi Nageeye. Following the incident, he was disqualified from the race.
