Norfolk Southern announced its intention to spearhead a collaborative effort within the railroad industry to enhance the process of making decisions regarding venting and burning of hazardous materials following the East Palestine derailment. This announcement comes just days before the National Transportation Safety Board is scheduled to provide insights on the incorrect actions taken by first responders in blowing open five tank cars and burning the toxic chemical inside. Norfolk Southern aims to address and improve the decision-making process surrounding such incidents to ensure better outcomes in the future.

A large fire has broken out at a construction site near Silvertown Way in Canning Town. Smoke can be seen billowing from the area as ten fire engines and approximately 70 firefighters are currently on the scene working to extinguish the flames.
