Sydney Metro Train Line Under Harbour Set to Open in August with Trial Services Beginning

The Sydney metro train line under the harbour is set to open in August, with trial services already underway. If the trial operations go smoothly, the Chatswood to Sydenham section of the metro line will officially open in August. The central section of Sydney's new metro rail line is currently undergoing testing with a full service timetable in preparation for the public opening. The trial services will run from Chatswood, through the central business district, and into Sydenham, covering nine stations out of the planned 19-station City and Southwest line.

Man extradited from Victoria to face charges of kidnapping and sexual assault in Sydney

A 29-year-old man has been extradited from Victoria to New South Wales after allegedly drugging and kidnapping a woman in Sydney. The man is accused of sexually assaulting the woman, taking photos of the assault, and then attempting to extort $300,000 from her in exchange for not releasing the images. He was arrested in Oakleigh East, Melbourne, and is set to face court in Sydney.
