Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, and other chess elites are currently competing in London as part of the Global Chess League. From October 3 to 12, eight of the world's top 12 players are showcasing their skills at Friends House in Euston, with tickets available for spectators to book online. This week presents a rare chance to witness the best in the chess world in action. The Tech Mahindra Global Chess League features Norway's world No. 1, Magnus Carlsen, as its standout participant, alongside seven other top-ranked players: Hikaru Nakamura from the United States, India's Arjun Erigaisi, Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu, and Vishy Anand, Uzbekistan's Nodirbek Abdusattorov, France's Alireza Firouzja, and China's Wei Yi. Additionally, the world's highest-rated female player, Hou Yifan from China, is also competing. Notably, Russia's Ian Nepomniachtchi, who is ranked No. 9 globally and has challenged for the world title twice, along with two other Russian grandmasters, Alexander Grischuk and Vladislav Artemiev, were reportedly denied visas to enter the UK. However, several Russian women grandmasters, including Grischuk's wife, Kateryna Lagno, are participating in the event.
